Which International Day celebrates today?

It is “ International Mother Language Day ” !

There was a news saying an indigenous language from Chile has extinct due to the loss of its last living speaker.
Although the language has been spoken for last 6,000yrs, it is unfortunate there is no one can speak it in the world anymore, and the threat of vanishing dialogs/languages is no different in Japan.

At Eco-cen, we often talk about the relationship between the global warming and biodiversity, and the threat of extinction of species. However, today I thought of the interesting point of “extinction” which occurs not only species but also the culture.

Anyhow, which language is your mother language and how many languages do you speak?

We have several books at Eco-cen’s library.
They are categorized into 4 languages; Chinese, English, Korean, and Portuguese (and of course Japanese!).
The varieties differ from nobles to pop-up books and for adults to children.

Let me know your favorite books from our library!!
